A mechanical lock on the revolving turnstile, rotating tripod/unipod respectively, makes it impossible to force the turnstile open.
In case of an emergency or a power outage, the turnstile arm(s) rotate freely (Tripod) or fold down (Unipod, DropArm), creating safe escape routes.
